A Glimpse Inside Venezuela
#Travel, #Venezuela, #Caracas
The capital of Venezuela, Caracas is the most densely populated city in South America, with over 7 million people living in just 2,200 square miles (5,700 km2). The area has been inhabited since at least 5,000 BC and was first discovered by Europeans in 1498 when Christopher Columbus sailed down the Orinoco River. It served as the first capital of Gran Colombia until 1823 and was also home to Simon Bolivar for much of his life. Today, it’s an important cultural center that serves as a major tourist destination and commercial hub for Venezuela.
