Quito (the largest city in Ecuador) is home to a diverse population, including a large Muslim community. Muslims in Quito have a long history dating back to the 16th century, when the city was founded by the Spanish.
Today, there are an estimated 3,000 Muslims living in Quito, representing around 1% of the city’s population. The Muslim community is largely concentrated in the Old Town (Barrio Histórico), where most of the city’s mosques are located.
